Project Overview
Problem Statement - The old website was chaotic, it was very difficult for the user to navigate through the website to complete simple tasks.
Solution - Redesigning the website with clean navigation and simpler language that a non-designer would understand.
My role - UX Researcher, UX Designer
Responsibilities - User Research - User Interview, User Journey Mapping, tree testing
Research Summary
We selected 3 main methods of user research
User Testing
Before we started working on the newly redesigned website we conducted a Concurrent Think Aloud (CTA) user testing, we gave users a simple function to go find a particular kind of product and place the order.
Interviews
We had a chance to interview 5 to 6 people, these included first-time users and our long-term users.
Sample Questions Asked:
How long did it take for the user to place the order?
Was everything easy to find?
Tree Testing
We conducted a tree testing method where we came up with 5 questions and asked employees, new customers, and long-term customers to fill it up so we could understand how would user navigate to find something on the website. Using Optimal Workshop we created a survey.
Personas
Based on the interviews we set up 2 main personas. We referred to them throughout the entire product development process. Personas are just a representation they do not point to a particular individual.
User Journey
Upon the feedback received we created an initial simple IA of the website, based upon this we started constructing the more complex in-depth IA for the website.
Low-fidelity wireframes
Wireframes
The initial wireframe was a sketch using pen and paper, for the digital screen I created the initial home page on Illustrator to show it to my manager, once approved I moved to Figma to create the low fidelity prototype which was used for user testing.
Receiving the feedback we started creating low-fidelity prototypes for product pages.
We used Figma to create high fidelity prototype.
